Head back to Narnia on the “Dawn Treader” trailer

They always love to throw a good trailer my way on Thursday morning after a Trailer Wednesday. Seems like everything in the family realm wants a first look before “Toy Story 3” on Friday, even though the Narnia property no longer belongs to Disney. “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” is the third adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic series and the trailer has just arrived.

“Dawn Treader” is the third book in the publishing order and fifth in the chronological order and personally my favorite of the series, so even though “Prince Caspian” was a disappointment, it would take a lot to let me down with “Treader.” The story follows two of the four Pevensie’s, Lucy and Edmund, who are still young enough that Aslan mentions their “journey is not yet done in Narnia” or something like that. Their non-believing brat cousin Eustace also joins them on this adventure about Prince Caspian’s majestic ship, the Dawn Treader. Surprises await them at every destination on their way to the furthest reaches of Narnia.

The trailer is mostly a tease although ten minutes long. We see about a second of numerous scenes, so not enough to have a clue about what’s going on other than there’s a ship and a talking lion. Regardless, it’s great that we have a third Narnia film to look forward to, as there was a point when the film was on indefinite hiatus because Disney didn’t want to back it. Fox has wisely swooped in and placed the film on December 10, back in the holiday season when “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” came out and did very well, whereas “Prince Caspian” got lost in the shuffle of the early summer season back in 2008.
