“The Social Network” adds a few million more friends
A slow October weekend at the box office spurred on by unanticipated releases and good weather let “The Social Network” stay on top for a second consecutive week with just $15.4 million. The film edged Katherine Heigl/Josh Duhamel film “Life as We Know It” by less than one million.
- The Social Network – $15.4 M (weekend) … $46 M (gross)
- Life as We Know It – $14.5 M … $14.5 M
- Secretariat – $12.7 M … $12.7 M
- Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole – $6.88 M … $39.3 M
- My Soul to Take – $6.84 M … $6.84 M
- The Town – $6.4 M … $73.8 M
- Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps – $4.6 M … $43.6 M
- Easy A – $4.3 M … $48.2 M
- Case 39 – $2.6 M … $9.6 M
- You Again – $2.5 M … $20.7 M
Disney’s horseracing film “Secretariat” managed to show with $12.7 million while Wes Craven’s latest horror film “My Soul to Take” earned just $6.8 million. Aside from “Network,” only “Legend of the Guardians,” “The Town” and “Easy A” continue to perform well at the box office this fall.
Dramedy “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” starring Zach Galifianakis managed just above $2 million in a wide release of 742 theaters, hardly the sign of a would-be indie hit.
